Until now, every Stencil workspace started empty — even though your firm's filings already exist in the public USPTO record. With Bulk import, you can bring your live portfolio into Stencil in minutes and start working on it right away.

Click Bulk import on your trademark dashboard and search by the attorney of record, search by the owner of record, or paste a list of serial or registration numbers — you can also load them straight from a CSV. Stencil finds each registration at the USPTO; no login and nothing to export first.

Everything lands in a review table first — the mark, owner, attorney, classes, and registration status, with likely matches pre-selected. Untick anything that isn't yours, search within the results, and click through to any filing's USPTO record to double-check. Nothing imports until you confirm it.

One click creates a renewal workflow for each filing you selected, with the mark, client, and classes already carried over from the USPTO record. Design marks are flagged in the review and prompt you for the mark image up front, so the filing is complete before you start.

Bulk import is available to everyone now — open your trademark dashboard and you'll see the Bulk import button right there. Searching by the email on record is on our radar — let us know what would help most.

Start a new application and Stencil now suggests the competitors most likely to matter for your client, then shows you exactly what they filed.

Add the client's website and business description and Stencil returns a ranked list of likely competitors alongside your recommended classes. You can search for and add others yourself, and the list skips marks you've already pulled in.

The search isn't limited to competitors. Look up any mark, including your client's earlier registrations, and bring across terms the USPTO has already accepted for them. Useful when you're filing in a new class for an existing client and want the language to stay consistent with the rest of their portfolio.

Click any mark to open its registered filings: every term, with custom terms flagged, and a clear view of which of your classes it didn't cover. Where there's more than one filing, switch between them in place.

Add a class from a filing in a click, then bring across the terms you want. Adding a class doesn't bring its terms with it, so you'll either add terms or turn the class back off. Custom terms stay flagged, and your fee estimate updates as you go.

Once a term is in your application, Stencil runs a matching pass and links any supporting evidence it finds, the same check behind its own recommendations. So you can see what's actually supported for your client's goods before you file.

You can now share any filing with colleagues at your firm who have Stencil access. Shared filings are fully editable, so your team can collaborate directly instead of working from copies or email attachments.

We've rebuilt how Stencil generates your goods & services - and every term it recommends now links straight to the evidence it came from. It's on by default under the new "Stencil 2.0 ID Generator" toggle when you start a new application.

Each recommended term links to the exact web page it was drawn from - click through to check the source before you accept it.

Recommended classes are grouped by filing priority (Core, Additional, and Alternate) with a short "why" for each, so you can see what's core vs. peripheral at a glance.

See estimated USPTO fees update as you build, accounting for the number of classes, custom-term fees, and excess-character fees.

Stencil 2.0 is on by default, but you can switch back to the classic generator anytime with the per-source toggle. And as always, review each recommendation before you file - your judgment is the final word.

Finding the best specimen for your filing is now easier.

Until now, specimen results appeared as a single undifferentiated list - sometimes too many imperfect options to sort through, sometimes missing evidence of use that you'd still want to consider. Now, every specimen comes categorized and explained, making it easier for you to find the best specimen per class, while maintaining a record of all proofs of use.

Rather than hiding specimen options that did not fully meet all USPTO specimen requirements, we surface them with clear labels. A capture where the mark placement isn't ideal, the mark isn't an exact match, or commerce isn't explicitly shown (advertised but no Buy button) will still appear and will be tagged Low or Medium confidence with a justification explaining why. You get the full picture and make the final judgement.

When you're collecting specimens or working a renewal, the Review + File drawer now has a new Use Analysis tab that lays out every good/service alongside its specimen evidence - this table can easily be exported to your clients for review.

For each entry you'll see:

- Selected (a specimen is attached), Evidence found (we surfaced a specimen but you haven't attached it yet), or Not found (no specimen yet)

- the source links backing each term

We've combined the filing review experience into a single drawer and added a few quality-of-life improvements to the filing flow. See details below!

The two review buttons (Client Summary and Review) are now a single Review + File button. Everything you need for all filing types - filing details, client email, comparison view, and export options - lives in one drawer, organized by tabs.

You can now download all specimens at once or just the ones you've attached. No more downloading them one by one (although you can still download each specimen on its own). Look for "Download All Specimens" and "Download Attached Specimens" in the export menu.

For new applications and ID conversions, the primary action is now "Open in Trademark Center" - taking you straight to where you need to go when you're ready to file.

Stencil now syncs with the USPTO ID Manual at 2:00 AM ET - up from once a week.

The ID Manual changes more often than most people realize. The USPTO pushes, modifies, and deletes terms on a daily basis. A weekly sync meant Stencil could be recommending terms that were days out of date or had already been removed.

With daily syncing, every term suggestion in Stencil reflects the latest version of the ID Manual, so you can file with confidence that your IDs will be accepted. You'll see a notification in the bottom right corner of your screen to inform you when a change has been made.
